A team built to
industrialise biology.
BioMetallix brings together microbial engineering, process metallurgy, and industrial software under one roof. We are deliberately cross-disciplinary — because solving critical metals recovery requires all three, not just one.
Why BioMetallix exists
A simple thesis, held to industrial standards.
The metals that power the clean-energy transition are locked inside waste streams we currently throw away. Biology has always been able to recover them — we exist to make it work at industrial scale.
Milestones so far
What we've built, funded, and validated since we started — in order.
Company founded in London
Team of three founded BioMetallix around a single, uncomfortable question: why does metal recovery still depend on 1,400 °C?
First lab-scale proof of concept
Successful recovery of lithium and cobalt from mixed e-waste in bench-scale reactors. First patent family filed.
Horizon Europe award
Public funding secured under the Horizon Europe programme to validate the platform at pilot scale with industrial partners. Team grew to 12.
First industrial pilot deployments
Containerised MER units operating on-site with European industrial partners. Bio Data Analytics Platform v1 released. Team of 24.
Commercial-scale rollout Next
Multi-site deployment across European and UK industrial partners. Series A raise in progress.
Funders & investors
A mix of public research funding and private capital — enough runway to reach commercial-scale deployment.
Detailed funding history available on request to qualified investors. Contact investor relations.
Work with us
Four disciplines. One problem.
We hire across microbial engineering, process engineering, software and commercial. Everyone in the company is expected to understand the biology, the hardware and the economics — even a little.
We are a small team, deliberately. Fewer people, more ownership, faster decisions.
Rigour over speed
We'd rather be right than early. Every claim is backed by data.
Cross-disciplinary by design
Biologists sit next to mechanical engineers sit next to software developers.
Impact we can prove
We publish our environmental numbers. You'll see your work in them.
Ownership, not just roles
Small team. Real responsibility. Direct line to outcomes.
Media & journalists
Assets, fact sheets, and a direct line to the team for journalists covering critical minerals and industrial biotechnology.
